In the UK, Topshop is a highly popular fashion retailer. Topshop designs and manufactures clothes in-house but also stocks a range of select brands such as Adidas and Skinnydip. Topshop designs and sells female clothing in the following categories: dresses, outwear, knitwear, tops, denim, trousers, lingerie, swimwear and pyjamas. There is also an extensive accessory and beauty range with bags, belts, socks, nail polish and makeup. You can order Topshop items directly from the website or visit your local Topshop store. If you do order online you can choose from several delivery options including standard (4 days), next day and collect from store, depending on which method is most convenient for you. If you need to return an item to Topshop there are three options available to you: return to store, return via the Hermes Parcel Shop and returning via post (via your nearest Post Office). When you purchase an item from a Topshop store, you’ll be given a physical receipt as well as an e-receipt via your email address, which comes in handy if you lose the physical receipt.
Whether you need a dress for a Friday night out, a summer wedding or for the office, Topshop has plenty of choices. The types of dresses available depend on the current season, for instance, in Autumn/Winter 2016 you will find glitzy bodycon dresses ideal for the party season, lots of velvet and autumnal colours like a deep berry red and purple. Dresses are available in sizes 4-16. You will also see reviews from customers who have purchased the dress.
Skinny or baggy, boyfriend or girlfriend- Topshop has a style of jeans to suit every body type. The jeans all have different names, making them easy to identify. Joni is a super skinny high-waisted style, Leigh is a mid-rise skinny fit, Jamie is a skinny fit which just grazes your ankles, Baxter is a low rise relaxed fit, and Mom jeans are tapered in the leg, 90s style. Topshop jeans come in a variety of colours including classic blue, light blue, black and white. The jeans will also go with the trends; for instance, in the summer embroidered jeans were a big trend and in the current season (A/W 16) undone hems are the trend, so there are plenty of undone hems in the various different styles available. Topshop jeans are set in waist/length measurements rather than a dress size. They start from W24 to W34 with leg 30-34, although the petite and tall ranges have leg 28-36 respectively.
Topshop takes catwalk inspiration for its footwear, with styles available including boots, flats and high heels. Current styles available include suede ankle boots, pointed court shoes, lace-up ballerina flats, velvet sandals, loafer flats and over the knee boots. Topshop shoes are available in sizes 35-42, also known as UK sizes 2-9. Shoes are made out of a range of materials including real leather.
If you’re having a baby, you don’t need to compromise on your style. Topshop has a vast range of maternity clothing from affordable everyday essentials to comfy underwear and pyjamas. One of the biggest struggles for mums-to-be (clothing wise) is finding jeans which fit comfortably around the bump- Topshop jeans have a jersey panel to accommodate the bump and are designed to stretch throughout your pregnancy. You’ll also find occasion dresses, swimwear and nightwear. You can also buy nursing bras which don’t look frumpy!
Topshop Oxford Street
Topshop’s flagship store is located at the centre of Oxford Circus, Oxford Street in London. Whether you want to work on the shop floor or in an office, Topshop has plenty of career opportunities. To work in a flagship store i.e. London or Liverpool, you can apply online. For other stores, pop in with your CV for opportunities as a sales advisor. If you’re invited to an interview, you’ll be interviewed one to one and set a practical task such as finding an outfit for a specific occasion. There are also opportunities at the London head office from marketing to IT. There are benefits to working in the head office such as season ticket loans and bonus schemes.
Topshop Student Discount
At Topshop, students get 10% discount all year round. You can use your NUS card, sign up to Unidays or sign up to Student Beans to redeem the discount. Note that NUS card numbers are no longer accepted on the Topshop website but are valid in store. Topshop also runs promotional student events with extra discount in some stores, usually around Fresher’s Week in university cities.
Topshop was first founded in 1964 in Sheffield, as an extension of the Peter Robinson department store. It originally stocked ‘young’ brands such as Mary Quant, Radley and French Connection. The brand is famous for collaborations with designers and celebrities such as Ashish, Kate Moss and most recently, Beyoncé. The latter’s collection, Ivy Park, launched in 2016 as a fitness and activewear brand.
