The History of Sony

Sony has its headquarters in Tokyo as it originally a Japanese corporation and was first established 70 years ago, in 1946. The business structure is not just technology and also includes gaming, entertainment and financial services. Sony is known as one of the most comprehensive entertainment companies in the world. Sony Group is parented by the Sony Corporation. The business, first established during World War 2 was set up primarily in a department store in Tokyo. From here, it went on to achieve globalisation, creating the infamous Playstation in the early 1990’s, that has grown with the company. Another creation that Sony is renowned and one that has been and gone in favour of Apple’s iPod, is the Sony Walkman. Established in 1979, it was the world’s first portable music player. Sony also built the MiniDisc in 2004.
