Why should I call the OVO helpline?

As Ovo is a UK energy provider, customers may have to phone the Ovo helpline for a large number of possible reasons. The electricity they supply is of critical importance to the everyday business of their customerbase, so any disruption to the service will result in a flurry of calls. Similarly, the importance of electricity to the average customer is difficult to overstate and will likely result in large volumes of calls to the Ovo Helpline even over non-emergency issues, like tariff pricing and enquiries.

The reasons why you may call the Ovo head office include, but are certainly not limited to:

  • Paying your OVO energy bill
  • Enquiring about quotes for energy
  • Asking about the pros and cons of switching to Ovo Energy
  • Resolving issues with an Ovo website account
  • Reporting issues with electricity supply
  • Finding out whether Ovo is dedicated to renewables sourcing for electricity
  • Finding out how a switch from your current provider to Ovo would play out
  • To ask how it got to be called “Ovo”

Calling the Ovo Helpline

As stated in the sections above, the quickest, most hassle-free and most direct way to get in contact with Ovo and the OVO helpline is to call the helpline number listed above, 0843 320 9547. This helpline is manned by trained customer service operatives between the hours of 8am and 8pm during the week and on Saturdays, allowing customers a 12-hour window to seek help on those days.

Unfortunately, on Sundays the window is reduced, as the result of lessened operational capabilities on Sunday, meaning the helpline is only manned from 10am to 5pm. While certainly not as titanic as the 12-hour windows which are usually available, this is still a full, unbroken 7 hours in which customers can enjoy unfettered access to Ovo help simply by calling the number above.

The staff on the other end of the Ovo contact line are trained customer service agents with access to the Ovo database and the capacity to use it – giving them unprecedented access to information and help that makes them uniquely able to solve your problems.

With a mission statement that dedicates them to helping customers whenever and wherever that customer needs help (so long as it’s during operating hours and the problem concerns OVO) these experts can resolve the vast majority of customer issues and provide any information you may need – and if they can’t, the fact that the helpline directs to specialists within the head office means that they can effortlessly transfer calls to more experienced or more specialist members of staff until even the most difficult issue is resolved.

Alternative Contact Methods

At intervals throughout this article, it has been stated that the most effective way to get into contact with the Ovo energy helpline is to call the Ovo helpline number listed on this page, 0843 320 9547. This contact line is manned every day of the week by trained customer service experts, although the times at which it is available change on Sundays – which unfortunately are bound to reduced operating hours.

Ovo helplines are available throughout the week, but please note that they operate reduced hours during Sunday. While from Monday through to Saturday inclusive the customer service lines are manned by trained specialists from 8am to 8pm, the reduced hours on Sunday mean that the line are only active and manned between 10am and 5pm.

However, calling a company is not always the most convenient option, and at times may prove completely impossible – which makes it necessary to have a back-up communication method in the tank. These primitive-seeming back-up options include email and actual normal mail.

You can use email to get in touch with OVO at any time of the day or night by using the email address found on their official website (this is not it). Alternatively, if you want to use traditional post for your message, you can! Simply address your letter to the following address and ensure you’ve paid the appropriate postage.

About OVO Energy

Ovo is a UK energy company based out of its ancestral heartland of Bristol, England. Established in 2009, Ovo stands apart from other UK energy companies by refusing to operate energy generating plants and power stations – it operates a unique platform instead.

OVO survives without power stations by buying and selling electricity from other providers at the most opportune times, relying on the nature of the electricity generation to create its niches – other providers always have electricity at either very high or very low prices, creating the opportunity for a company like OVO to buy and sell when it suits them.

As a result, Ovo can provide excellent deals to their customers, despite the fact that they’re not generating a single Watt!

Ovo FAQs

What’s a PAYG meter?

“PAYG” is an acronym standing for “Pay As You Go”. These “pay as you go” meters allow Ovo customers to use only the electricity they’ve paid for, and pay only for the electricity they use! Replacing standard billing, which can sometimes be inaccurate and frustrating, the PAYG meter allows customers to pay before using the energy! Then once that’s done, the electricity can flow; however, make sure to keep it topped up!

If you run out of credit, it’s possible to be temporarily left without power.

Does a Pay as you Go meter have to be installed inside my home?

Your pay as you go meter with Ovo energy does NOT have to be installed in your home, and will be installed outside wherever and whenever possible. This method of installation means that the meter will be easy to read by OVO engineers without intruding upon your private domain.

If it’s not possible to install it outside, it will have to be put into the house, meaning you’ll have to be physically present to allow the meter reading technician into your house.

What if I want a traditional meter?

OVO unfortunately cannot guarantee adherence to a traditional meter – and it may not even be possible for you to keep your old meter. It is simply possible that the rapidly advancing wheel of industry will continue to turn, unabated, and you’ll have to get a pay as you go meter.
