BT – 0844 826 8040

BT was first founded in 1969 after the General Post Office (previously in charge of all British telecommunications) became a public corporation. British Telecom was formed in 1980 and it became independent of the Post Office a year later. The company was privatised in 1984 and shares were sold. Today there are several BT subsidiaries such as the BT Consumer Division which supplies broadband, TV and landline services. The company has around 18 million customers. Back in 2015, it was announced that BT would purchase EE for over £12 billion. However, the deal was subject to intense scrutiny from the Competition and Markets Authority and was only approved in January 2016. The majority of the company’s profits come from the Openreach division of the company which oversees the UK’s copper infrastructure. The company employs over 100,000 people. For more about BT corporate call the head office team on 0844 826 8040.
