Apple UK

Apple is a popular technology manufacturer based in California, USA. Apple creates laptops, tablets, phones, smart watches and music players. You can purchase Apple products directly from Apple, from an Apple store or by purchasing through a partner retailer such as Currys, Amazon or Argos.

Apple Mac

The Apple Mac is Apple’s computer model. It is available as a laptop or a desktop computer, depending on your preferences. Mac computers make a great choice for professionals as there are several Pro apps available including Final Cut Pro (video editing software), Logic Pro X (recording software), Motion (graphics software) and Main Stage 3 (live performance software). You can also use Mac computers in schools and colleges to encourage education thanks to the Mac for Education scheme.

Apple iPhone

The Apple iPhone is a smartphone with many technical capabilities. The current models of iPhone on sale are the 5s, 6s, 6s+, SE and iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, with the 7 range being the newest. The iPhone 7 was the subject of much controversy when it was launched as it removed the home button and the headphone socket, although an adaptor for normal headphones was shipped with the phone. The iPad is Apple’s tablet device. It is available in several different models including the Air (lighter) and Mini (smaller). You can use your iPad for work thanks to the Apple Pencil (allowing you to draw on the tablet) and the Smart Keyboard for typing longer documents. There are also thousands of apps which have been specifically developed for iPads to be enjoyed on the larger, high-quality display.

Apple Store

You can use the Apple website to find your nearest Apple store. As well as selling Apple products and dealing with customer repairs/refunds, Apple Stores have a number of other services available. The Genius Bar is a service where you can make an appointment with an expert to have them help you set up your device or assist you in using a certain function. Alongside this, Apple stores offer free workshops to people of all ages and abilities. You can learn the basic functions of a device, find out more about how iCloud storage works, get tips on photography/videography, learn about editing videos on your Mac or get advice on using Keynote to create presentations. There is also free youth programmes for children to help them get engaged with technology. They can find out more about robotics and coding through Apple Summer Camp or teachers can take students on a field trip to an Apple store.

Apple Watch

The Apple Watch is a smartwatch which marked Apple’s first venture into wearable technology. The Smartwatch has a small screen which displays notifications from your iPhone such as calls, texts and apps. There are several different models of the Apple Watch. The Series 2 watch has a built in GPS, is water-resistant and has a brighter display than the original model. There is an Apple Watch Nike edition, with a Nike sports strap or a luxurious Hermés Apple Watch with a leather strap. You can switch Apple Watch straps whenever you want, in line with your outfit or mood, by purchasing straps from the Apple website.

Apple Music

Apple Music is Apple’s subscription music streaming service, comparable to Spotify. It mixes your purchased music library with a large database of songs to stream. There is also Beats 1 Radio which features shows from some of the world’s best DJs and top artists. You can also enjoy music shows and films created exclusively for Apple Music. You can also download the music to be played offline.

Apple users can get a free trial of Apple Music for three months.

Apple App Store

The Apple App Store is where you download apps from on your Apple device. You will find many popular apps including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tinder and YouTube. You’ll also find fun games including mobile versions of popular console games such as Fifa and Grand Theft Auto.  Some apps are free, but some you will need to pay for. Your purchases are stored, so in the event that you delete an app you have already paid for, you will be able to re-download it.

Apple TV

Apple TV has reinvented the way that you use your TV through apps. You can use Siri to find the programme that you’re searching for or ask it for suggestions. You will have access to all your favourite streaming apps including Netflix, Now TV and BBC iPlayer. You can also enjoy shopping apps and games through your Apple TV. With the innovative remote, you can swipe with your thumb to search through suggestions.

Apple Pay

Apple Pay is a faster way to make payments online and in shops. You connect your debit/credit card to your phone/Macbook and you can pay just by using your fingerprint. You can also use Apple Pay to buy apps on the app store. You can also use it when checking out of websites using Safari. It’s safe as it does not reveal your card number- it generates a unique transaction code each time you pay with the service.
